Visas, transit and documents: prepare for departure

By eSimaxi · Published on September 7, 2026 · 2 min read

The destination alone does not determine entry requirements. Prepare a travel record with your passport, residence, dates and stopovers before checking the rules that apply.

Check every traveller and every stage

Record passport nationality, expiry date, purpose and length of travel. Repeat the check for each traveller: members of one group can face different requirements. Include stopovers and whether you must collect luggage, change airports or pass entry control.

Use the right source before paying

IATA’s travel-documentation service is a starting point for checks based on the traveller’s circumstances. Confirm the procedure with the destination authority or consulate. Check documents, processing times and fees for your situation. A rule written for a different passport is not a personal answer. iata.org

Include documents in your budget

Copy the charges shown by the official service into your budget, keeping their currency. Add separately any ancillary costs actually required for your application. Keep a secure copy of confirmations and useful contacts. Check again before departure, particularly after an itinerary change.

Prepare the eSIM once the route is set

Connectivity helps retrieve a booking or contact accommodation; it grants no entry permission. Search every destination you need and check plan validity. Install according to your order instructions and keep documents offline too. Country pages provide plans and a calculator for your own expenses.
